12 hour shifts on either Oncology, Orthopedic, Cardiology or Med/Surg unit; primarily nights ; every other weekend and rotating holidays Backus Hospital is proud to offer a Nurse Residency program to help newly licensed nurses successfully transition into clinical practice by providing support, resources and mentorship.

We have partnered with the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program(TM) to provide resources to help new nurses gain confidence and increase competence during this 12-month program.
Your well-being as a new nurse is enhanced through hands-on training and processing clinical experiences.
Nurse Residents will be hired directly to a specialty area where they will receive focused clinical education.
The positions offered vary based on the needs of the hospital and may include Critical Care, Progressive Care Unit, Med / Surg, Cardiology / Telemetry, Emergency, Operating Room, Oncology and Orthopedic units.
In addition to clinical immersion on the unit, Nurse Residents meet in a classroom format to share experiences and receive additional education and training.
Who is enrolled in a nurse residency program?o Every newly licensed RN (completion of NCLEX with active CT RN license) with less than one-year experienceo Program enrollment is based on hire dateGraduates of this 12-month program will:

Graduate of a school of nursing.
Soon to be graduates are welcome to apply!
Experience:
New RN Graduate Nurses or newly licensed RNs.
License and Certification:
o Active State of CT RN license.
New graduates may start employment under Graduate Nurse license status (per the State of CT DPH guidelines) with pending license and must successfully complete first NCLEX testing and hold active license within 90 days from graduation date.
Once active state of CT RN license is obtained newly-licensed nurse will be placed into Nurse Resident program cohort sessions.
o Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
o Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.
By completing the Nurse Residency Program, newly-licensed nurses are able to competently and safely manage a full patient assignment with confidence, and will be well-positioned to become future leaders in the nursing profession.
Recommended Skills Basic Life Support Nursing Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
